چکیده

In 1970 A. Baker and W. Schmidt introduced the concept of a regular system of numbers and vectors. They proved that the set of real algebraic numbers forms a regular system on any fixed interval. This fact has allowed to prove some important results in the metric theory of transcendental numbers. In this paper their approach is applied to the set of algebraic integers α in short intervals of length depending on the height of α.

Arithmetic Teichmuller Theory

By Grothedieck's Anabelian conjectures, Galois representations landing in outer automorphism group of the algebraic fundamental group which are associated to hyperbolic smooth curves defined over number fields encode all arithmetic information of these curves. The goal of this paper is to develope and arithmetic teichmuller theory, by which we mean, introducing arithmetic objects summarizing th...

Smoothing \Smooth" Numbers

An integer is called y-smooth if all of its prime factors are y. An important problem is to show that the y-smooth integers up to x are equi-distributed amongst short intervals. In particular, for many applications we would like to know that if y is an arbitrarily small, xed power of x then all intervals of length p x, up to x, contain, asymptotically, the same number of y-smooth integers. We c...

Exact sequences of semistable vector bundles on algebraic curves

Let X be a smooth complex projective curve of genus g ≥ 1. If g ≥ 2, assume further that X is either bielliptic or with general moduli. Fix integers r, s, a, b with r > 1, s > 1 and as ≤ br. Here we prove the existence of an exact sequence 0 → H → E → Q → 0 of semistable vector bundles onX with rk(H) = r, rk(Q) = s, deg(H) = a and deg(Q) = b.

On the heights of algebraic points on curves over number fields

Let X be a semi-stable regular curve over the spectrum S of the integers in a number field F , and L̄ = (L, h) an hermitian line bundle on X , i.e. L is an algebraic line bundle on X and h is a smooth hermitian metric (invariant by complex conjugation) on the restriction of L to the set X(C) of complex points of X . In this paper we are interested in the height hL̄(D) of irreducible divisors D on...

Nets, (t, S)-Sequences, and Algebraic Curves Over Finite Fields With Many Rational Points

Nets, (t; s)-sequences, and algebraic curves over nite elds with many rational points Nets and (t; s)-sequences are nite point sets, respectively innnite sequences, satisfying strong uniformity properties with regard to their distribution in the s-dimensional unit cube I s = 0; 1] s. The general theory of these com-binatorial objects was rst developed by the speaker 2], and they have attracted ...
